Model calibration with spatial data

Hazard measurements are often spatially clustered and provide repeated information about the process of interest in a given region. In the case of volcano tephra ash estimation, isolated points that lie further away from the vent can provide important information on certain eruption source parameters such as the grain size distribution. To allow such observations to speak out, a weighting scheme is being developed based on spatial correlation to improve the current model calibration algorithm.
